Amateur Radio

This Saturday at Gilleran Park in Mission Viejo, the The South Orange Amateur Radio Association will host a "Field Day" from 11 am June 27th to 11am June 28th.
You can visit www.soara.org for an in depth description of the activities and purpose. It is a great opportunity to experience ham radio and a great way to prepare for communications in a disaster situation.

Each Sunday evening at 8:45, I join many others in the area to participate in the Mission Viejo Emergency Response Communications radio net. I have my call sign...KI6JYU...and I am learning the lingo...and I check in each week that I am home.

I am a fairly new ham radio operator, and am looking forward to learning how to communicate more clearly. I think my son might be interested in talking to folks in other countries and even in outer space. Maybe we will meet you at the park next Saturday night. At least we can get our ears on....and I am not talking Disneyland. :)
