Canning

Wow! The Cannery has really changed since I was there last spring. It was such a treat to go with my Sammy and be surprised to meet my friend, Sheila there too. I hope all of my friends interested in preparedness make a time to go there. I was able to get a case of sugar, flour, apple slices, rice, wheat, and oatmeal...plus a can of carrots and onions, and two can of white beans....I am working on soups with legumes...anyone have a soup recipe with white beans that you like? They also have prepackaged cases there of staple items and starter kits...better than gold in difficult economic times.

The cannery is open most Wednesday evenings or you can make appointments with a group of 6 or more. Let me know if you would like help scheduling a time to go. It is easy to fill out a request form ahead of time. I also had some potato flakes at home that needed canning...so I purchased some cans while I was at the cannery, and Betty Campbell (Stake RS Preparedness Specialist) let me drop by her home to can them this afternoon. Our stake has a canning machine that is available to borrow if it is easier for you to can at home. (I also like to can Christmas gifts....no peeking problems.)
