Time to Plant
Have you checked out the garden centers? They are brimming with good stuff for the garden. I added a miniature mandarin tree to my 2009 collection of fruit trees. My kids love to eat those cuties. I also thought I would try a few different tomato plants this year. Curious if anyone has an especially effective way for a great tomato harvest? My kitchen herbs are going great, and some of my herbs from last year grew well enough that my mom could get a cutting for her own garden. It was Thyme. I found out that it just takes a small spoon full of seeds to make enough sprouts for a small family. I have alfalfa sprouts coming out of my ears. ={**}=

Fortunately, I have enough room in my garden to have a substantial tomato patch. I have heard that you can plant a tomato plant in a bag of mulch. Pierce some small holes in the bottom to allow drainage in a sunny area. Remove at least the bottom set of leaves and plant deep in the mulch. Removing the leaves and planting deep will encourage more roots for a stronger plant.
ReplyDeleteI'm going shopping for tomato plants tomorrow. I grew from seed one season and the heartbreak of having garden pests mow down your "babies" is more than I can bare.
Good luck.
