Espalier Style Fruit Trees
It is so exciting to hear of the many families that are planting fruit trees and starting gardens in our ward. At our class last week, Sam Sheppard was describing her espalier trees, and I thought many would enjoy seeing how this is done. Donna Semar has a blog that you can visit to see how to train your bare root fruit trees in the espalier style. It is perfect for along the fence line of your property. Her site is http://maybellinesgarden.blogspot.com. She says "You can order trees that are already pruned espalier style; but it's pricey. Now is the time to do it. I bought bare roots and pruned them myself. On my blog, there are a few different patterns shown. The style I'm using mirrors a fence. The trees are planted along a curb that separates our lawn from our garden; so the fence works well." It was interesting to see the pictures of her garden and especially this pruning style. I would love to share pictures of your gardens with the ward as well. It is inspiring to see the creativity of the projects you are pursuing. Happy Gardening. :) Jenny

Thanks for posting Donna's blog. I'm hoping that it wont be too late to get some things planted when we get into our new house.
