10 Reasons to Garden

10. Self-reliance. We can produce our own food.
9. Delicious. We can pick the homegrown vegetables and fruits at the peak of ripeness. Yum!
8. Healthy. We experience better nutritional value and less chemical pesticides as we tend the garden ourselves and have control of what goes into or on the fruits of our labor.
7. Rewarding. We experience the law of the harvest. We reap what we sow. There is something really special about that.
6. Variety. We can grow a variety of fruits and vegetables that are not readily available in the grocery store.
5. Community. We can enjoy sharing with our neighbors. Some plants produce bumper crops that must be given away on a daily basis. Ever have a healthy zuchini squash plant?
4. Value. It is often more economical to grow your own fruits or specialty vegetables. When I see the price on a lemon at the store, I feel rich looking at the tree full of them.
3. Creativity. A garden can be a great way to participate in a creative endeavor as beautiful and inspiring as a work of art or musical performance.
2. Educational & Fun. Plan, plant, nourish, prune, harvest, and enjoy. Let the little ones in your life take part, and you will experience excitement in the wonder of gardening with your children.
1. Maybe the best reason to grow a garden is because our prophet has asked us to. It must be important in ways we might not appreciate or understand, but for which we will be blessed. Gardening is good. :)
